Balkan Museum Network – Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina
The Balkan Museum Network celebrates, preserves and shares the complex common heritage of the western Balkans. They work with museums throughout the Balkans to support creative leadership, advocate socially responsible museums that promote and celebrate learning, and use the Balkans’ common heritage to advance the principles of peace and reconciliation.
Consequences of Radiation Exposure – Seattle, Washington, USA
Throughout the world disenfranchised populations often find themselves the chosen location of nuclear weapons production and testing sites. The goal of Consequences of Radiation Exposure (CORE) is to give voice to these communities by creating an international museum focused on issues relating to the health effects of ionizing radiation. Once established, the museum will serve to provide the public with access to radiation exposure health information currently held in disparate, geographically separated communities around the world.
Indiana Historical Society – Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
The Indiana Historical Society (IHS) connects people to the past by collecting, preserving and sharing the state’s history through its library, archives and exhibitions. It also provides integral support for local historical organizations and develops programs to help people consider current issues in the context of history. The IHS’s commitment to providing a platform for dialogue on social issues prompted the new LGBT Collecting Initiative which has already resulted in two new major collections, 40 oral histories, an exhibit and numerous programs.
Pearl S. Buck International – Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA
Best known for bridging east and west cultures, Pearl S. Buck was an author and a leading advocate for social justice throughout her life. The Pearl S. Buck International is a nonprofit organization that keeps her legacy alive by providing opportunities to explore and appreciate other cultures, building better lives for children around the globe and preserving and interpreting Buck’s National Historic Landmark home.
