The Auschwitz Institute for Peace and Reconciliation (AIPR) works to prevent genocide by building a worldwide community of policymakers and military leaders with the skills and commitment to respond to conflict before it turns into genocide. AIPR organizes genocide prevention seminars for mid-level government employees from various countries’ ministries as well as for mid-ranking military personnel. The participants of our seminars become members of a semi-formal community that is sensitized to the need for the incorporation of genocide prevention into political and military doctrine and practice. The instructors of the seminars are leading public policy practitioners and researchers on genocide prevention from around the globe. All of our seminars are held in Auschwitz, Poland, where the history and the site leave lasting impressions on each student and enhance the impact of our programs.
