The José Domingo Cañas Foundation aims to promote the maintenance of collective memory regarding human rights, especially in the scope of education, culture, and society. Our foundation brings together ex-detainees, survivors, relatives of the disappeared and executed, ex-militants and leftists, neighbors, friends, supporters, volunteers, and more. We fought together to recover the site of torture and detention named for the former Ollague Barracks and today called Casa Memoria José Domingo Cañas – a Site of Conscience where different generations converge to engage the historical memory related to Chile today through our memories, experience, and our desire to build a different society where the rights of all people are respected.
