The Center for Memory and Reparations facilitates remembrance and common narratives around the Sierra Leone civil war (1991 – 2002), disseminating the findings of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and advocating for the implementation of its recommendations, especially those pertaining to memory and symbolic reparations. The Center is currently the sole organization in charge of mapping and
marking mass graves from the decade-long war, and is currently protecting 11 mass graves and other sites in ten districts across Sierra Leone to serve as community sites of remembrance and national reconciliation.
