Filoli

Filoli welcomes 200,000 visitors through tours, art exhibitions, youth and adult education, and seasonal events. Our programs aim to highlight the importance of connections among nature, environmental conservation and stewardship, art, and history. We envision a time when all people honor nature, value unique experiences, and appreciate beauty in everyday life.

Filoli is located on the traditional territory of the Indigenous Ohlone people. The land was purchased in 1915 by William and Agnes Bourn to build their country home. The estate was purchased in 1937 by William and Lurline Roth. Filoli was Mrs. Roth’s home until 1975 when she donated 125 acres, including the House and formal Garden, to the National Trust for Historic Preservation for the enjoyment and inspiration of future generations. The remaining acreage was later purchased by the nonprofit Filoli Center.

Filoli is a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, is recognized as a historic site on the National Register of Historic Places,
