Tucson Jewish Museum & Holocaust Center

The Tucson Jewish Museum & Holocaust Center is located in the Barrio Viejo on the southern edge of downtown Tucson. The flagship of the campus is a historic synagogue, the first synagogue that was built in the Arizona Territory (1910). The museum serves as an education destination for schools across the state and a cultural center for Southern Arizonians. TJMHC collects, preserves and presents the history of Jewish people in Southern Arizona and intentionally situates that presentation in the context of the region’s rich multicultural demographic and history. The education program addresses issues of justice/injustice, race/racism, power, identity and community. Additionally, the museum is a critical space for advancing community relations and convening often challenging community conversations.
